Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about our plans and getting started.

Pricing Plans

What is the difference between the pricing plans?

We offer three monthly lesson plans to suit different learning styles and schedules:

  • Regular Plan: Four 50-minute lessons per month, held weekly at the same time. Ideal for students who value consistency, structured progress, and a reserved weekly slot. This plan offers the best value per lesson.
  • Flexible Plan: Up to three 50-minute lessons per month, booked around availability rather than at a fixed weekly time. Perfect for students with changing schedules who need more flexibility.
  • Light Plan: Two 50-minute lessons per month. A great option for busy students or those who prefer a lighter commitment and ad-hoc booking.

Not sure which plan is right for you? Get in touch and we'll be happy to help.

What happens if I can't make a lesson?

Need to move a lesson? No problem — just let your teacher know at least 24 hours before your lesson and reschedule through the booking system.

Lessons cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice may not be eligible for rescheduling.

What if I miss a lesson?

If you miss a lesson without prior notice, unfortunately we're unable to offer a reschedule or make-up lesson. We recommend always letting your teacher know as soon as possible if something comes up.

Can I take a break from my plan?

You may pause your plan for up to two weeks without losing your slot. Please let us know at least 5 days in advance and we'll adjust your next billing date accordingly.

Longer breaks are absolutely fine; however, we can't guarantee your slot will still be available beyond the two-week mark.

What if I want to cancel my plan?

You can cancel your plan at any time. To cancel, simply let us know at least 5 days before your next billing date and you won't be charged for the following plan. Cancellations requested after this window may result in one final payment being taken, after which your plan will not renew.

  • Lessons remaining at cancellation: Any lessons already paid for at the time of cancellation may still be used until the plan expiration date. After this period, unused lessons will expire and cannot be refunded.
  • Pausing instead of cancelling: Not sure you want to cancel? You can pause your plan for up to two weeks — see the break policy above for details.

Starting Out

How long does it take to learn songs on the piano?

That depends entirely on your goals, practice schedule and musical background. It takes about 3–6 months to learn the fundamentals, but some students achieve songs in under 60 days.

I'm totally new to the piano and I can't read music. Can I still join?

Absolutely — you're exactly who we're here for. Our lessons are designed with complete beginners in mind, so no prior experience is needed whatsoever. Reading music and understanding the basics of theory will naturally become part of your journey with us, and we'll guide you through all of it at your own pace.

I'm in my fifties. Is it too late to learn?

Not even slightly. There is no age limit to learning the piano or to enjoying it. Some of our most enthusiastic students came to the piano later in life, and that's something we celebrate.

I've always wanted to play but I don't think I'm musical. Should I even try?

Yes — and we'd gently push back on the idea that musicality is something you either have or you don't. In our experience, what looks like talent is almost always the result of good teaching and consistent practice. Book a first lesson and see how it feels. There's nothing to lose.

Do you offer grade exam preparation?

Yes. We can prepare you for ABRSM or Trinity grades from Grade 1 through to Grade 8, though sitting exams is entirely optional. Many of our students prefer to learn purely for the love of it, and that's just as valid.

Do I need to own a piano before I start?

No — this is something we can figure out together. During your first lesson, your teacher will get a sense of where you're headed and can advise on the most suitable instrument for your needs and budget. We're happy to point you in the right direction when it comes to buying or renting.

What actually happens in a lesson?

If you're starting from scratch, we'll give you a clear path to follow so the fundamentals feel manageable rather than daunting. As things start to click and songs come more naturally, lessons open up and become much more personal: shaped around your taste, your goals, and where you want to go. Every student's journey looks a little different, and that's exactly how it should be.

My schedule is unpredictable — can you work around that?

We'll do our best. We know that busy professionals don't always have the luxury of a fixed slot each week, so please mention this when you get in touch and we'll see what we can arrange. Flexibility is subject to availability, so the earlier you let us know, the better.
